Tax Increase in Conshohocken & Rambler Bus

February 4th, 2008 · No Comments · General, Politics

I missed this news post from a week ago regarding an upcoming tax increase for Conshohocken Borough.  I don’t mind the tax increase, its not the reason for the post.

The reason for  this post is the costs associated with the Rambler Bus.  It seems only 1000 riders took this service for a cost per rider of $37.  I was thinking about this service and its history.  I seem to recall there was a ACME supermarket in Conshy that closed and the Rambler was brought in to assist the elderly get to stores and such.

It seems to me that the Borough should recommend or take advantage of the grocery delivery services that ACME Markets, Genurdis and Giant Markets offer.  $37,000 can sure buy a lot of deliveries.

Let’s hope that our Council starts thinking outside the box for services and tax increases.  Seems to me that if a service is not being used, it needs to go away.
