I happen to be in New York City for some training last week so I failed to notice another change to the Matsonford Bridge. Seems “they” modified the dividing lines again, this time making the driving lanes thinner and extending the left turn only lane into West Conshohocken (towards Lower Merion) almost three-quarters the way across the bridge. This, in theory, allows more cars to squeeze into this lane and opens the flow of traffic. Right? Wrong.
Now the Left turn lane is completely full, as expected. But, due to the lane’s proximity to the traffic light at Fayette and Elm, cars can no longer even get on to the bridge to attempt to cross. I’ve now experienced this for about a week, with the resulting gridlock making crossing the bridge no better. This lane change is yet another Band-Aid fix that does little to remedy the actual problem.
This change as discussed in October will be the fix that makes things move much faster. Granted, there is no money or plans to actually implement this, but it least it’s an idea. Moving lanes is not going to fix the problem.
Seems to me that the bridge needs a longer right-turn only lane leading from Conshy into W. Conshy. At least that’s what I think would work best for my purpse of getting to work
BTW – don’t know if this question ever got answered but someone told me that they were in Target about 2 weeks ago, heard a huge gushing sound, then tiles and water started shooting out over the boys’ clothes section. So that’s why Target was closed.
How about the pretzel place. Is that open yet? Where we gonna park for that?
1. Yes, completely agree.
2. I need to make a Target run. Is it back open?
3. Confirmed. Philly Soft Pretzel Factory in Conshy is OPEN! I’m going to treat my co-workers to a bunch tomorrow morning…
Target is opeN!
Also.. totally off subject, but when I was driving by 8 East this morning the door was propped open. There is nothing but wood inside (walls and floor). It’s not NEARLY finished. I am getting irritated!!!!!!!!!!!!!
