Many people would no more think of entering journalism than the sewage business - which at least does us all some good.

I spoke to the head of public works about the waste treatment plant and it’s recent, ehh, odor. Now, let me first state that this was news to me. I live on the West side of town, maybe 10+ total blocks from the treatment facility. So, no smelly issues for me.
What I can say is that a co-worker of mine commented after dining on the patio at Coyote Crossing that he was “smoked out” during his meal and had to retreat indoors. I also received a personal email from a reader inquiring on the problem. Obviously, I don’t work for the Borough and probably know just as much as anyone else on the issue.
The good news is that I did have a meeting with several Councilmen and the Public Works manager just last week and asked what the story was. Generally, it seems that are doing work on the facility and due to that work, there will be odor. This will likely last until August/September time frame. This is just another example, once again, where a web site notification about work at the facility would alleviate so many complaints. All I can say is, I’m working on it. I’m working on it…
Makes sense to do this during the summer, doesn’t it? In any case, I hope you East-siders can hold on for a few more months of stink.

Somone should put a webcam up pointed at the windsock down at the treatment plant so us “east” siders can plan our picnics accordingly

This happens every summer. I have lived on the east side for many years and every summer there is some kind of odor from the plane
