Baldwin Flowers, RIP

August 20th, 2008 · 4 Comments · Real Estate

I appears Baldwin Flowers, located at 115 Fayette Street, has closed its doors.

Quite frankly, I’m not surprised.  With the rising popularity of online flower delivery, the local flower shop, with its expensive B&M storefront, will go the way of the dodo.  The store never seemed open and never had anyone inside.  I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. I’m sure all the local funeral homes kept things going longer then expected, but who knows.

The good news is that I saw a demolition crew in there this morning, obviously getting it read for the next tennet.  Anyone have any dirt on what’s next for this storefront?  It is a prime location between the Boathouse and Blackfish.

ooh I wonder! My friends and I noticed that that random thrifty/knick knack shop was purchased on 8th and Hallowell and is being gutted too. Can’t imagine what it would be (or if they are making it part of the house that it is attached to) but I am interested!

Saw a sign in the storefront that Baldwin Flowers is moving to the 200 block of E. 8th Ave. Blackfish is closed for renovations - could they be expanding into this space?

Baldwin’s is now at the corner of East 8th and Wells where that consignment shop was.
