Quaker Chemical Cuts 80 Positions

According to Philadelphia Business Journal, Quaker Chemical is cutting 80 positions in the US and Europe. I did some research and this equals about 10 percent of the total workforce for the Conshohocken based company. I guess this is a result of the overall downturn in the economy. Council Closes Budget Gap and Denies Appointment

Some good news out of this week’s final Council meeting of 2008. According to this article, they were able to close the $180,000 budget shortfall and the Borough will have a balanced budget in 2009 without a tax increase. Great work to all the Board members who were able to get that pushed through.

Conshohocken Sewer Authority Theft

I’ve been gathering as much info as possible on the reported theft of funds from the Conshohocken Sewer Authority. So far, it appears over $167,000 was stolen by Tracy Michele Connelly, the office manager.
