Traffic on Fayette St during AM/PM Rush Hour

May 13th, 2010 · 5 Comments · General, Politics, Traffic

Just got off the phone with a staff member from State Representative Mike Gerber’s office.  I sent him an email earlier on recommendation from Borough Manager Fran Marabella.  It seems the traffic signal issue in West Conshohocken was due to be fixed but was being held up at PennDOT.

Well, the good news is that Representative Gerber is aware of the issue and is pressing to get all the hold ups resolved.  Hopefully, we should start to see some improvements in flow very soon!

Ironic, I have not posted a complaint on traffic in the Borough in a while.  Maybe, after this issue is resolved, that trend will continue.

    What’s the traffic signal issue?

Not sure of the actual root problem, but the backup from Fayette/River Rd in West Conshy over the bridge would extend to 2-3 blocks into Conshohocken. This often created gridlock, forced Conshy police to direct traffic and generally was a pain.

My gut feeling is that something happened with the time change, but I don’t have hard proof of that. The light is GREEN –> RED for what seems like too short of time to get keep traffic flowing. There is no longer a backup after the light getting onto I-76 W/E or Blue Route, so I think extending that light by 5-10 seconds will do wonders. We’ll see. I drive it every day. Will keep everyone informed.

    Great to hear!
Was this a reasonably new change to the W Conshohocken signal? It seemed to be fine for a while and then it got really bad all of the sudden.
